Hello, I’m MB Chen, and I’m honored to share my journey with you.
My story didn’t begin in a boardroom—it started on the factory floor. At 20, I walked into a garment factory in China, just a young man from the countryside with a love for making things by hand.
This old photo from 1996, taken in the pattern-making room, still means a lot to me. Back then, before smartphones, it was rare to capture a moment at work. I was a pattern master at a Hong Kong–owned company. We had no computers—everything was drawn and cut by hand. I’ll always be grateful to the skilled Hong Kong craftsmen who taught me the art of garment construction and prototype design.
Later, I joined a Japanese-owned enterprise, where I learned precision, discipline, and an uncompromising standard for quality. That experience shaped me—technically, managerially, and even philosophically. I started as a junior technician and grew into the role of factory manager.
In 2003, driven by a dream of independence, I founded my first factory, complete with a design studio and production line. I also launched my first brand, OMJ—Only Made Just-for-you. The name reflected a simple vision: providing professional customization service, and creating a platform for global exchange. In the early years, our clients came mainly from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
When the internet era arrived, I saw a chance to connect with the world. In 2011, I joined Alibaba International, and from that moment, my business entered a truly global stage.
One belief has guided me through it all: great clothing begins with a deep understanding—not only of fabric, but also of people. Brands don’t just need a supplier; they need a partner who genuinely cares and is committed to bringing their vision to life.
That philosophy has been at the heart of my most treasured partnership—with Gretchen Scott, who has trusted me since 2014. Our collaboration is proof that trust and shared vision can turn into something extraordinary.
As we grew, I wanted to meet clients where they were.
•In 2014, we exhibited in the United States for the first time. Standing in a Las Vegas trade show, I felt the energy of the global fashion market. That moment showed me that craftsmanship is truly a universal language.
•In 2017, we expanded to Australia, where sustainability was front and center. That experience inspired us to build our own eco-friendly fabric library and implement greener production practices.
These international experiences didn’t just bring us new clients—they gave us perspective. They pushed us to refine our strengths and aim for world-class standards.
Today, that small hand-drawn pattern room has grown into a modern manufacturing center. We’ve added automated cutting and digital management systems, but the heart of craftsmanship still beats strongly in our work. The discipline I learned in my early years is now embedded in a rigorous quality system. And the insights we gained from American and Australian markets guide us in aligning with global trends.

My own journey has taken me from apprentice to craftsman, and now, to partner. The role I value most is being your trusted manufacturing advisor.
